Knowing how to make use of the styling tools when writing blog posts is crucial if you want to capture your reader's attention with professional-looking content. By using columns and inserting optimised images, your blog posts will be much easier to absorb and look much more visually appealing. Most business websites with blogs just add an image and write some text; read this article to go a step further than those people.

Open the editor, click on Basket, and enter the Blogs section.
Click on the + New Post button to start writing a new blog post.
You are required to give your blog post a title, slug and summary, otherwise the post will not save.
In the ReadyMade Content dropdown, you can choose from a wide range of default layouts for how you order content and images inside the blog post.
You could, for instance, decide to have a small image on the left with a block of content to the right, creating an attractive side-by-side piece of text.
You can choose a layout of one, two, three or four columns, with many different orientations of images, text, buttons and icons.
You will see that some default text has been placed into one of the columns.
To write your own content, just highlight the text and type in your own copy.
Blog posts benefit from being interspersed with subheadings that break up the content into digestible chunks.
To create a subheading, write out the name of the heading and highlight over the text.
Click the dropdown titled Normal and select an appropriate size for your subheading.
If in doubt, Heading 2 is a safe option to go for.
As you can see, an attractive subheading for the content in this post has been created.
If you selected a default ReadyMade Content layout that includes an image, you will see the default image as a grey box.
Click on the box so that it goes blue.
Making sure that the default image still blue, click the pink Image button.
Take note of the dimensions for this default image on the left hand side.
The image you upload in this section, therefore, should have similar dimensions of width and height.
For example, a really landscape or portrait image would not work for this particular default image box given that its two dimensions are quite similar.
Having selected your image, you will see the image's dimensions on the right-hand side again.
Make sure that the dimensions are close to the original dimensions of the default image box, otherwise the image may not look professional.
Next to the ReadyMade Content button, you will see a button titled Empty Columns.
Use this dropdown to select from a wide range of empty column layouts.
There are a variety of different dimensions and numbers of columns available, so you can choose the structure that works perfectly for your text and images.
Double click on a column you've inserted and click the Remove Columns + content button.
As you can see, you've quickly created a really professional-looking piece of text that incorporates a subheading, text and an image.
This is just one example of the many different formatting options available, so be sure to play around and find the exact layout and image dimensions that suit your requirements.
