Having downloaded Thunderbird, click on the Local Folders area in the top left-hand side.
In the Accounts area, click the Email option.
Instead of clicking Continue, look for the Manual Configuration button.
For the outgoing mail server, change the Port setting from Auto to 143.
The other settings - host email address, SSL, Authentication - should be the same as the ones entered in the incoming mail server section.
Your username in this section should be the same as the address entered in the Email Address field near the top of the box.
You'll get a quick warning after clicking Done. Make sure you tick the box titled I understand the risks.
You will see your email address and its inbox sitting in the top left-hand side of the screen. This means that Thunderbird Mail Client has been successfully installed.
Right-click on the your recently added email address and select the Settings option.
You can use this section to decide how often - in minutes - the mailbox checks for new incoming mail.
You could stipulate that the mailbox makes a check every minute, every 10 minutes, or every hour, depending on your requirements.
