If you are looking for information on our 14 day free website builder trial we have a large number of webpages that guide you throug the process.

Locking your pages

As part of the flexibilities provided by the Reason 8 website builder system, you have a facility, which allows you to hide, lock and/or password protect your webpages.
You may want to give high priority to certain clients or customers allowing them exclusive access to certain pages with personal, private, valuable or confidential information enclosed. You may want to build a members area for your best clients. You may have information or advice, which you want to sell. This facility gives you the power of complete control over access to your page content.

Website Security

Why would I need to hide my pages?

There are a couple of reasons why this facility is very handy. Firstly, you may have a new page, which you are still designing and don’t want anyone to view until it’s finished and you’re happy with it. Alternatively, you may have a Special Offers page, which you only need to show at certain times of the year. To “Hide” your pages, simply go to Step 3 and click the “Organise Pages” button, then just drag and drop the required page from the right blue block “Your Navigation Menu” over to the left green block “Your Webpages”.

Locking Your Pages

Many websites have pages or areas where access is restricted. Access is then granted to specific clients or groups of clients by way of a valid username and password. The DotGO system, not only allows you to lock your pages, but if you have a shopping basket facility built into your website, you can also lock items or groups of items (products). This is extremely handy should you have different price brackets for wholesale and retail, or if you want to offer special prices to loyal clients.

You may want to restrict access to information such as books, advice, tips, guides etc., which you wish to sell and only after payment has been received are clients given access with a password. Please do however try to avoid locking or hiding the important primary pages, which you do need everyone to see!
To Lock your pages, go to Step 3 and click the “Lock your pages” button at the bottom of your page list. When locking your pages, you’ll see a drop down menu with the options: “Not Locked”, “Level 1”, “Level 2” and “Level 3”. These options allow you to allocate a security level to each page, group or item you create, level 3 being the highest. Your webpages are set to a default level of 0. Everyone can view a page with a security level of 0.
You can then decide what security level to allocate to your user by clicking “Assign Passwords”. You can also maintain a database of your key users in this section. Users with a security level equal to or greater than the level of the page can view that page. So a user with a security level of 1 can view pages having a level of 1 or 0. A user with a security level of 2 can view pages that have a level 0,1, 2 but NOT 3. All users have a security level of 0 unless you give them greater access.

With each user you add to your database, you’ll need to enter a name, email address, username and password. You choose the username and password, so a good tip is to work out an easy format to follow in advance. For instance, the username can be the first two letters of their first and last name, followed by a customer number or house number or there may be other letters or numbers, which will help you to immediately identify the user, which can be helpful. The password could be taken from their telephone number or email address or you may wish to ask them to suggest a password that they can easily remember.

As your customers view your website pages, if a user does not have the correct access level to a certain page or item, he is prompted to enter a username and password. If a user forgets his password he simply enters his email address and the system emails him his username and password automatically saving you the headache of support.

*NOTE* You can also enter your own DotGO username and password to view your locked pages - this gives you full access privileges to your own site.

Adding video background to your website

Evolving Your Website Using Background Videos

These days, websites without background videos run the risk of appearing old-fashioned. Even dinosaurish,

There’s nothing wrong with dinosaurs, or with looking like one. Dinosaurs are cool. Unless they’re chasing you of course.

But our new background videos have landed, exploded and changed the game. They have wiped out the old standards for beautiful websites, and have replaced them with a new standard that will leave all other websites looking like fossils.

Luckily, both our existing clients and our new ones have access to this brilliant new feature we’ve introduced, and we’d like to share its benefits with you today.

Bold, Italics, Capitals – When To Call On Your Superheroes

A superhero is only super because he or she stands out amongst the crowd. If we were a planet of flying, teleporting, time-freezing super-strong aliens, then we wouldn’t think there was anything super about us. When it comes to using formatting methods such as bold, italics, capitals or centering, all of these little text-enhancing superheroes will only stand out if they are used sparingly, in the right place, and when absolutely necessary…
