The images you place on your website can play several roles. Descriptive - they can show viewers exactly what you do and offer in a fraction of a second. Invitation – Choosing the right images can encourage visitors to look further into your website. Attention – Images can grab people’s attention far better than text, especially if those images are animated. Sales – The images for the products you’re selling through your website can, in some cases, make the difference between a client making a purchase or not. As a Website Builder, giving your website the best images you can, will ultimately help your website perform better for you and your business.
Finding the best images is your first task. If you sell products, which you get from a supplier, one of the first places you could begin your search is with those suppliers. Quite commonly, they will have existing photography, which is normally of good quality. It’s in their interest to let you use their photography as this will help you sell more and the more you sell, the more they sell! As long as you have their permission, it’s also a great source of copyright free images, so you can use them without the risk of getting into trouble over copyright issues.
If you produce and sell your own products, you may have to organise your own photography. It can be worth the outlay to hire a professional photographer, as when it comes to public perception, the quality of the images can and will reflect the quality of the products! If you have a decent camera and have the confidence to do your own, make sure you get both the lighting and the background right! If it’s a nice bright, sunny day, take the pictures outside, you can't beat natural sunlight! If not, choose a bright room with overhead lighting. The best background to use is white. Try setting up a bright white sheet (smooth out any creases!) or white paper, (large A3 or bigger is best).
With original photography you will need to compress your images down to an internet friendly size and format before uploading them to your website. Click here to view the Tutorial on how to do this.
If you can use generic images to portray your services or products, then your first port of call should be your very own DotGO Image Library, which is built into your website and features 27,000 copyright free images for you to use as and when you like. If you need something more specific, there are hundreds of photography and image brokers from whom you can buy either individual images or whole, themed collection discs, which you can use for both your website and any literature you need. There are also online image libraries, which offer copyright free images for free or there are companies who sell discs with 1000’s of images on all sorts of topics for not a lot of money. Just type free images into your search bar and have a look what’s available.
Copyright Laws are getting tighter as more and more websites hit the internet. The need for images has increased so much that businesses have been tempted to pinch images from other websites on the net, as in most cases, it quite easy to do, just right click and copy or save! But Beware!! If your website is discovered by the owners of those images and you do not have permission, you could be faced with a demand to either remove the image(s) in question, pay for them or worse, face a fine for using them in the first place.
So get the best images you can for your website (with permission where required!!) and you'll see the difference both for yourself and from your customers.

These days, websites without background videos run the risk of appearing old-fashioned. Even dinosaurish,
There’s nothing wrong with dinosaurs, or with looking like one. Dinosaurs are cool. Unless they’re chasing you of course.
But our new background videos have landed, exploded and changed the game. They have wiped out the old standards for beautiful websites, and have replaced them with a new standard that will leave all other websites looking like fossils.
Luckily, both our existing clients and our new ones have access to this brilliant new feature we’ve introduced, and we’d like to share its benefits with you today.
A superhero is only super because he or she stands out amongst the crowd. If we were a planet of flying, teleporting, time-freezing super-strong aliens, then we wouldn’t think there was anything super about us. When it comes to using formatting methods such as bold, italics, capitals or centering, all of these little text-enhancing superheroes will only stand out if they are used sparingly, in the right place, and when absolutely necessary…
Reviews, testimonials, recommendations – we all seek reassurance in them. We might even skip past the good ones just to see if there are any bad ones.Other people are sources of information for us. They can tell us whether this product or service is actually any good or not. Reading their testimonials builds trust in your business.
