build a websiteWe’ve received lots of emails from customers asking how to add You Tube Videos to their websites. YouTube was founded in 2005 and is the world's most popular online video community, allowing millions of people to watch and share videos, which have been originally created. YouTube also provides a distribution platform for original content creators and advertisers to share the video content. It really is a superb way to add visual impact to your page and furthermore it’s free to add videos from YouTube to your website!!! You can either create or upload your own video or as long as you have permission, you could use a video, which is already on YouTube. With your Reason8 Website Builder, it’s also a lot easier than you may think.

Let’s look first at how to upload your video to YouTube.

Firstly sign up for a basic YouTube account. Once you've created and edited your video, make sure it's less than 10 minutes long and smaller than 2GB in size. It must be also in the correct format. YouTube accepts video files from most digital cameras, camcorders and cell phones in the following file formats: AVI, .MOV, .WMV, and .MPG.

It can take anything from a few minutes to an hour to upload your video. There are two ways to upload video: 1) Via YouTube’s “Single File Uploader” or by using the YouTube Uploader for more than one video. You can upload up to 10 video files in a single uploading session. Go to the YouTube site and click the upload button in the upper-right-hand corner. Click the "Browse" button to browse for the video file you'd like to upload and select the file you want to upload. > Click the 'Upload Video' button. > As the video file is uploading, enter as much information as possible about your video , making sure you include a Title, Description, Tags, and a Category. > Now click the 'Save changes' button. That’s it… your video is now uploaded!

How to embed your video onto your website page.

Click on the drop down arrow next to your account name, top right and go to My Video’s. Select the video you want to embed and click play. Next click the Embed button underneath the video screen on the right and the customization options will appear. You can choose from the following options:
• the color and size
• whether or not to include related videos
• whether or not to display the player border

When embedding a video on your site, choose a size of the player, which best fits your site rather than focusing on the video resolution. We would therefore recommend choosing the smaller size available, which is also the default size. All the sizes include an extra 25pixels at the bottom for the player controls. The default size is the same size as the video would appear on and they give the best possible viewing experience.

Once you’ve chosen your options, copy the embed code. Now we’ll paste the copy into the HTML view of your editor. Open the page on which you’d like your video to appear in your page editor

In the position on the page where you would like your video to appear, type: “XXXXXXVIDEOXXXXX”. The reason for this strange text will become clear when you go to HTML view. You may need to set this code into a single column single row table should you need to position it within existing text and images. Or simply use the alignment buttons in your editor to move it to sit left, right or centre. Now click the “Show HTML” button at the far right of the bottom row of your editor icon bar. This will change the view setting of your web page from our simple Editor view to the HTML code view.

At first glance it looks like a bunch of toddlers have got hold of your keyboard and had a lot of fun with it! But don’t panic. Search through the fine code until you find your “XXXXXXVIDEOXXXXX” text. It will be surrounded by code such as : <p style="text-align: centre">XXXXXXVIDEOXXXXX</p>. The text-align: could be left, right or center, depending on the position you set. Or if you’ve placed it in a table to help you position it better, it may be surrounded by something like:
<table border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="0" width="400" align="right">
            <td style="text-align: center">XXXXXXXXXXXXXVIDEOXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX</td>

The only bit you need to worry about is the XXXXXXVIDEOXXXXX bit. Highlight only this text avoiding the > and < brackets as shown above and paste the code you copied for the video in its place. Make sure it sits exactly between the > and < brackets. This is very important. Now Save your page.

You should now have a live video sat right on your Web page!
