At DotGO, we’re all about building fantastic websites that rank well on Google and wow your customers (don’t believe us? Take a look at some of our finest! https://www.dotgo.uk/examples).

When we’re not building, however, we’re probably swapping tasty lunch recipes and praising the gift from the heavens that is the air-fryer (it can literally fry anything). With that in mind, we thought it was high-time we put our money where our mouths are and, so, the Great DotGO Bake-Off was born! Once a month, we have an office baking content, where we show off our skills and vote on whose bake we think is the best. Best bake wins a prize!

How Does It Work?

At the end of each month, we choose a theme and then take it in turns, over the course of the week, to bring in a quality bake. It’s a great way to get tasty food into the office and helps us save a bit on lunches, too! (The choice in the Tesco meal deal gets stale real fast) Last month, the theme was pizza.

A Pizza the Action

Not just standard pizzas, though. We like to get creative when we design websites and we like to get creative in the kitchen too! We’re also “just” a little competitive. People got serious on this one…

Designer Jen brought in some unreal pizza swirls, with pepperoni for the meat-lovers and a tasty mozzarella/cheddar mix for the veggies!

Content Writer Martin got experimental with a Guinness-based sauce and crispy base that turned out super delicious.

Salesman Fabio went above and beyond, with a full spread, complete with a stuffed-crust half-and-half pizza (peri-peri chicken/veggie extravaganza), chilli cheese for grating and home-made hot sauce to go along with it.

Designer Frankie went all in with peppers, onion and sweetcorn, rounded off with a melty, cheesy stuffed crust!

Content Writer Andrew went classic Italian with a series of mini calzones (closer to “pasty-sized,” in fairness), stuffed with salami, mozzarella and a mix of veggies!

To the Victor…

The way we score our bakes is that everyone has a total of 6 points to allocate:

  • 1st Place: 3 Points
  • 2nd Place: 2 Points
  • 3rd Place: 1 Point

It goes without saying: you can’t vote for yourself! This one went down to the wire – we had a tie! Fabio’s hot-sauced half-and-half and Andrew’s crispy calzones won the day with 22 points apiece. We attempted a tie-breaker but, in the end, we called it a draw and agreed to split the winnings. Have a look below at the tasty ‘za’s that filled stomachs and had lunch sorted last week.

If you weren’t hungry before, we’ll bet you are now! As we’re sure you can guess, we love food here in the office. For more foodie inspiration, check out some of the Food and Drink websites we’ve built recently! (https://www.dotgo.uk/trade/food-and-drink&ex)

Next month’s theme? COOKIES. We can’t wait!
